EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MRS REGINA GEGE,PROPRIETRESS AND OWNER OF NADI SCHOOL MAKURDI

Idomadiva diva blog paid a visit to Nadi School Makurdi and had an interview with the Proprietress of the school Mrs Regina Gege... Read interview below.

Introduction......., Can we meet you?

Ans.....I’m Doofan Regina Gege, I’m the proprietress of NADI SCHOOLS I am happily married to Mr. Benjamin Gege, I am a mother of four children.
As a teacher and proprietress of NADI SCHOOLS, I have NCE, Degree and PHD in view so the academic environment has become second to home to me having been in the teaching profession for over 10 years, taught in Gboko High School as well as Government college Makurdi respectively, so you see, what I do has now become a part of me

Question....What Inspired the vision of NADI SCHOOLS?

Ans....My love for children really inspired me because I always want to impart something into them at every given opportunity.

Question...What are your goals for NADI SCHOOL in 2016?

Ans.....Yes, NADI SCHOOLS started in 2013 with just three (3) classrooms, but now we have so many classrooms. There is a kindergarten section that has twelve (12)  classes but two (2)  already  completed  and equipped with state of the art facilities as well as the primary session which now has eleven (11) classes with our eyes set on meeting word class standards based on global educational trends.
As regards our plans for 2016, we have employed a new diction teacher to resume this September after the break, even as we speak, there is a proposal on my desk a from a professional music training service provider named Ale’s World Entertainment to introduce music lessons & trainings for the children  at the beginning of the new session come September.
We have so many other mouthwatering programs in view that we will soon make public as the year goes by.

Question...Where do you see NADI SCHOOLS in the next Ten (10) years?

Ans..In the next ten years NADI SCHOOL is going to be a household name in the educational sector with international recognition.

Question...As an entrepreneur in the educational sector, what are the challenges you have faced?

Ans...Just as sector there is no sector that does not have its challenges, one of the major challenges we are faced with is the issue of prompt and timely payment of school fees, we all know the country’s economic situation and the difficulty that comes with it especially in Benue where there is irregular payment of salaries thereby affecting us in no small way I tell you!

Question....With your wealth of Experience, What are the possible solutions to these challenges facing the educational sector?

Ans...The system is gradually going down, when I started this place it was passion driven but today you will notice that so many people now open schools simply because they want to make money, so they go about it unprofessionally and to that I will like to say this here that ‘You can’t give what you don’t have’ they are cheating the children instead of teaching them.
Many of the government schools you see today are dilapidated, no good learning environment for the children, the teachers are either not adequately trained or not motivated, so my advice to the teachers is for them to commit themselves to proper teachers training courses if untrained and government should boost the moral and motivation of teachers by paying their salaries, allowances and other incentives as at when due.
I call on the government supervisory body in charge of private schools to look into the population of private schools in the state and ensure to fish out all those that do not comply to the stipulated standards and such schools should be shut down if possible to preserve the good image of the private educational sector.

Question...What advice do you have for parents in respect to their children’s education despite the economic situation?

Ans...My advice is that parents should make the children’s education top priority, if that is done they will be able to keep up despite the tough economic situation in the country. They can suspend some of the expenses and pay the children fees. They have to carter for their needs moreover, the children didn’t ask anybody to bring them into the world for God sake. As far as I am concerned, education is the best gift any parent can give to their children.
